Vapor Intrusion

Sampling, Modeling, and Installing Mitigation Systems

One hurdle encountered during redevelopment projects is the potential for vapor intrusion of volatile chemicals from soil and groundwater into indoor air. PIONEER project managers are experts in the evaluation of the vapor intrusion to indoor air pathway and have been effective in negotiating strategies for evaluating and mitigating vapor intrusion.

We have developed state-of-the-art vapor intrusion mitigation plans focused on areas where vapor intrusion might be a concern and have identified appropriate mitigation measures, such as vapor barriers, sub-slab depressurization systems, and passive convertible ventilation systems.

As recognized vapor intrusion experts, PIONEER was the primary author of the Vapor Intrusion Guidance document for the United States Navy. In addition, the Washington State Department of Ecology requested PIONEER's input on their current vapor intrusion guidance document.
